Frequently asked questions

Mobile ultrasound scans: what you need to know

What areas do you cover?

We cover Greater London, St Albans and selected surrounding locations. Please send the full postcode so we can confirm availability, travel time and any location-related fee.

Do I need a GP referral?

No GP referral is required for most services. However, our team may request relevant clinical information or recommend a different pathway when this is safer or more appropriate.

How soon can I book?

Next-day and short-notice appointments may be available, subject to the scan type, clinician availability and your location.

What scans can be performed at home or on site?

Many abdominal, urinary, thyroid, soft-tissue, MSK and selected vascular examinations can be provided as mobile services. Pelvic, breast, testicular, cardiac and full-body assessments are considered individually. Some intimate, complex or urgent examinations may be more appropriate in a clinic or hospital environment.

Are mobile scans as accurate as clinic scans?

Mobile scans use high-resolution portable equipment and are performed by appropriately qualified professionals. Image quality can still be affected by the examination type, patient factors, room conditions and available positioning. We will recommend clinic attendance when it is likely to produce a safer or more reliable assessment.

How much does a mobile appointment cost?

Fees depend on the scan, number of examinations, travel distance, clinician required and appointment timing. We provide a personalised quotation before confirming the booking.

How should I prepare?

Preparation varies by scan. You may need to fast, drink water and keep your bladder full, wear accessible clothing or provide previous reports. We send clear instructions once the appointment is confirmed.

When will I receive the report?

Findings may be discussed verbally during the visit where appropriate. The written report is normally delivered securely within 24 hours, although complex cases or specialist review may take longer.
