PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) is the primary blood marker for prostate cancer screening. It’s also raised in:

• Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
• Prostatitis (prostate inflammation)
• Recent ejaculation (avoid 48 hours before test)
• Urinary infection
• After digital rectal examination

Recommended for men over 45, or earlier with family history or urinary symptoms. Free PSA / PSA Density add-on (+£90) available for borderline results.

The 2-visit workflow ensures the GP and Pharmacist review actual results, not just history:

• Visit 1 (Day 1): All investigations performed (ultrasound, PSA, urine analysis & culture, comprehensive blood profile). Ultrasound report within 24 hours.
• Visit 2 (first Friday after Day 1): 30-minute face-to-face GP appointment combined with Pharmacist medication review — when all reports are ready.

Your GP will explain all results, assess risks, and recommend next steps or referrals.

Detailed urine assessment including:

• Dipstick analysis — protein, blood, glucose, ketones, leukocytes, nitrites, pH, specific gravity
• Microscopy — where indicated
• Bacterial culture — identifies specific organisms (E. coli, Klebsiella, etc.)
• Antibiotic sensitivity panel

Detects urinary tract infections, bacterial prostatitis, microscopic haematuria, and metabolic disorders.

Yes — same-day appointments for Visit 1 (the tests) are typically available, including weekends. Our clinics are open Monday to Sunday, 9am to 7pm.

Visit 2 (GP appointment + Pharmacist review) is scheduled for the first Friday after Visit 1, when all reports are ready.

A raised PSA does not always mean cancer — it can be elevated in BPH, prostatitis, infection, recent ejaculation, or after digital rectal examination.
