Frequently asked questions

Yes — please fast for a minimum of 4 hours before your appointment. This allows the gallbladder to fill, significantly improving visualisation. Water and prescribed medications are permitted. If possible, avoid fatty foods the evening before your scan.
The scan itself takes 20–30 minutes. Including preparation, initial consultation, and a brief discussion of initial findings, please allow 45 minutes in total for your appointment.
No GP referral is required — you can self-refer directly using our online booking system. If you have been referred by a GP or specialist, please bring your referral letter as it helps the sonographer address specific clinical questions.
Your report, prepared by a consultant radiologist, is typically available within 24 hours of your scan. In many cases, it is delivered the same day. Reports are sent securely by email and include your ultrasound images.
Ultrasound is a safe, non-invasive imaging technique that does not use ionising radiation. It is widely used for liver, gallbladder, abdominal, pelvic, vascular, and pregnancy imaging.
