PCOS assessment overview

A combined clinical, hormonal and ultrasound assessment

PCOS assessment is strongest when symptoms, clinical history, laboratory testing and ovarian imaging are interpreted together rather than relying on one test alone.

GP

Clinical history review including menstrual pattern, symptoms, fertility concerns and relevant medical history.

Bloods

Hormonal and metabolic testing tailored to the selected package level.

Ultrasound

Assessment of ovarian morphology, follicle pattern, ovarian volume, uterus and endometrium.

Plan

Results are reviewed clinically so appropriate lifestyle, GP, gynaecology, fertility or endocrine next steps can be discussed.

Important: a pelvic ultrasound can support PCOS assessment, but ultrasound alone does not diagnose PCOS. The scan should be interpreted together with symptoms, menstrual history and relevant hormone blood tests.
