TL;DR

£529 all-inclusive for: Pelvic Ultrasound (£219) + 5-marker hormone bloods (£160) + 30-min GP Consultation (£150) + Pharmacist (£50) = £579 standalone, save £50. Female or male senior sonographer. Ultrasound report within 24h, blood results within 1 day.

  • Endometrial assessment — important post-menopause
  • Real-time findings discussed during scan
  • Report delivered within 24 hours
HORMONES

Menopause Hormonal Blood Test

£160 standalone

Focused profile assessing key reproductive and thyroid hormones — clarifies hormone stage (perimenopause, menopause, post-menopause) and rules out thyroid dysfunction that mimics menopause symptoms.

  • FSH — high in menopause, reflects ovarian reserve
  • LH — also rises during menopause
  • Oestradiol-17-Beta — drops as oestrogen levels decline
  • Free T4 — bioavailable thyroid hormone
  • TSH — thyroid stimulating hormone
  • Results within 1 working day
CLINICAL

  • Transdermal vs oral routes
  • Bone health medications
  • Drug interaction screening
  • Supplement and OTC advice
Hormone Panel Detail

What’s Tested in the 5-Marker Hormone Panel

A focused profile assessing key reproductive and thyroid hormones — designed specifically to clarify menopause stage and rule out conditions that mimic menopause symptoms.

FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone)

High in menopause — reflects ovarian reserve. As ovaries become less responsive, the pituitary releases more FSH trying to stimulate them. Persistently elevated FSH is the cardinal hormone marker of menopause.

LH (Luteinising Hormone)

Also rises during menopause. Like FSH, LH levels increase as the pituitary attempts to stimulate the ovaries. The FSH:LH ratio can also be informative — for example, in PCOS where LH may be relatively higher.

Oestradiol-17-Beta

Drops as oestrogen levels decline. Oestradiol-17-Beta is the primary, most active form of oestrogen produced by the ovaries. Levels fall as ovarian function declines, contributing to many menopause symptoms (hot flushes, vaginal changes, bone loss).

Free T4 + TSH (Thyroid)

Assesses thyroid function — overlaps with menopause symptoms. Thyroid dysfunction causes fatigue, weight changes, mood disturbance, and sleep problems — symptoms that overlap with menopause. Critical to rule out before attributing all symptoms to menopause.

All add-ons are optional and charged in addition to the main package price. Final selection can be made during your examination appointment or after GP review, depending on clinical need.

Scan Coverage

What’s Assessed in the Pelvic Ultrasound

Comprehensive 20-30 minute pelvic ultrasound by an experienced female or male senior sonographer — combining transabdominal and (where appropriate, with consent) transvaginal imaging.

Uterus — Shape

Uterine size, shape, and position. The uterus typically becomes smaller after menopause — assessment confirms expected involution and identifies any structural anomalies.

Uterus — Fibroids

Detection and measurement of uterine fibroids. Fibroids typically shrink after menopause — but new or growing fibroids post-menopause warrant investigation.

Endometrial Thickness

Critical assessment — the endometrial lining thins post-menopause. Threshold >4mm with postmenopausal bleeding warrants further workup per NICE guidance.

Ovaries — Shrinkage

Ovaries shrink significantly after menopause. Measurement confirms expected post-menopausal appearance and identifies any abnormal enlargement.

Ovaries — Cysts & Activity

Detection of ovarian cysts (any size warrants assessment post-menopause), follicular activity (active in perimenopause), and any solid components requiring further investigation.

Free Pelvic Fluid & Abnormalities

Detection of any abnormal free fluid collections, masses, or other unexpected findings. Report delivered within 24 hours.
