Arrive with a comfortably full bladder

Finish drinking one litre of water one hour before the appointment so the bladder can be assessed properly. Follow any additional instructions from the booking team.

Step 2Scan

Urinary tract and testicular ultrasound

Water-based gel is used. The kidneys, lower abdomen and bladder are scanned first, followed by respectful scrotal/testicular assessment with privacy and dignity maintained throughout.

Step 3Report

Verbal findings and written report

Findings are usually explained during or after the scan. A written report with relevant images is normally prepared after review or within 24 hours.
