Important — Our Role

What London Private Ultrasound Does (and Does Not Do)

What we do: Provide private health screening, ultrasound imaging, blood biomarker testing, GP consultation, Pharmacist medication review, and integrated clinical interpretation. We help you identify health risks early, establish baseline measurements, and receive expert clinical advice.

What we do not do: We are not a treatment hospital. We do not provide ongoing management for serious conditions like cancer, advanced liver disease, or complex cardiac conditions. We do not perform surgery, chemotherapy, biopsy, mammography, colonoscopy, DEXA bone scan, MRI, or CT.

If treatment is needed: We generate a same-day formal referral letter to your NHS GP or to a private specialist of your choice — at no additional charge. The referral is significantly stronger because it includes ultrasound imaging, blood results, and GP clinical interpretation.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How does browsing by medical condition work?

Each medical condition page explains the condition, identifies risk factors and symptoms, and maps the condition to the most appropriate screening package(s). This is useful if you have a specific health concern but don’t know which package fits your needs.

We cover 26 medical conditions across 8 categories, each citing authoritative sources like NICE, NHS, British Heart Foundation.

Can London Private Ultrasound treat my medical condition?

London Private Ultrasound is a CQC-registered diagnostic clinic — we provide screening, assessment, and clinical interpretation. We do not provide ongoing treatment for serious medical conditions.

If your screening identifies a condition requiring specialist treatment, we generate a same-day formal referral letter for your NHS GP or to a private specialist of your choice, at no additional charge.

Do you screen for ovarian and uterine (endometrial) cancer?

Yes. Our Pelvic Health Package (£449) includes pelvic ultrasound to assess the ovaries, uterus, and endometrium — combined with female hormones, GP consultation, and CA-125 blood test on request (for ovarian cancer screening).

For specific endometrial concerns or post-menopausal bleeding, our Endometrium Health Package focuses on endometrial thickness and uterine assessment. Where biopsy is required, we generate a same-day referral to a specialist gynaecologist.

What is fatty liver disease (NAFLD/MASLD)?

Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), recently renamed Metabolic-Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD), is fat accumulation in liver cells in people who drink little or no alcohol.

It is now the most common liver disease in the UK, affecting an estimated 1 in 4 adults. Our Liver Health Package (£449) includes liver ultrasound plus optional FibroScan (+£359) for fibrosis assessment.

Are my results confidential?

Yes — all results, scans, and reports are strictly confidential and protected under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. London Private Ultrasound is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).

We do not share your information with anyone (including your NHS GP) without your explicit consent, except where required by law.

How early can these conditions be detected?

Most of the conditions covered on this site can be detected before symptoms appear — which is the entire point of screening.

Fatty liver, hypertension, early diabetes, thyroid abnormalities, ovarian cysts, and many cancers begin silently. Ultrasound imaging combined with comprehensive blood biomarkers can identify these at the earliest, most treatable stages.

Which condition pages should I look at first?

Browse the condition that best matches your concern. We’ve grouped 26 conditions into 8 colour-coded categories:

  • Cardiovascular (5): Hypertension, Cholesterol, CV Risk, Stroke, AAA
  • Vascular (2): PVD, DVT
  • Liver (3): Fatty Liver, Hepatitis, Gallstones
  • Metabolic (4): Diabetes, Thyroid, Obesity, Anaemia
  • Cancer Screening (5): Prostate, Breast, Ovarian, Uterine, General
  • Kidney (2): CKD, Recurrent UTI
  • Women’s Health (3): Menopause, Pelvic Pain/Cysts/Fibroids, PCOS
  • Men’s Health (2): Testicular, Prostate Health

If unsure, call 020 7101 3377 — our team will guide you.

What happens if you find something concerning?

If your screening identifies a finding that requires specialist input, we follow this pathway:

  1. Same-day discussion — your Sonographer or GP discusses findings during the appointment
  2. Integrated written report — comprehensive report within 3-5 working days
  3. Formal referral letter — generated same-day at no extra charge if specialist input needed
  4. NHS or private pathway — your choice; the referral can go to either

For urgent findings, we may contact you by phone before the written report.
