What’s Included

1. Thyroid & Neck

Thyroid gland, salivary glands, neck lymph nodes, and any palpable neck lumps or bumps. Detects nodules, goitre, thyroiditis, and lymphadenopathy.

Standalone: £219 Learn more →

2. Carotid Doppler

Both carotid arteries assessed for plaque, narrowing (stenosis), and stroke risk. Doppler flow analysis identifies haemodynamically significant disease.

Standalone: £249 Learn more →

3. Abdomen

Liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, and abdominal aorta. Detects fatty liver, gallstones, masses, and abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA).

Standalone: £219 Learn more →

6. Lymph Node Assessment

Comprehensive assessment of accessible lymph node groups. Identifies enlarged or abnormal nodes that may indicate infection, inflammation, or other conditions.

What to Expect

Your Full Body Ultrasound Appointment

A single 60-minute appointment from arrival to written report. Each ultrasound examination is performed by a registered ultrasound consultant, with all findings discussed in clinical context at the end of the visit.

0–5Min

Arrival & Preparation

Welcome at reception, brief medical history review, and any specific symptoms you’d like the consultant to focus on. Quick preparation in the consultation room.

5–15Min

Thyroid, Neck & Carotid Doppler

Your consultant begins with the upper body — thyroid gland, salivary glands, neck lymph nodes, and Doppler assessment of both carotid arteries.

15–30Min

Abdomen & Aorta

Comprehensive abdominal ultrasound: liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, and abdominal aorta. Each organ assessed systematically with images saved for the report.

30–40Min

Kidneys & Urinary Tract

Both kidneys and bladder assessed. For optimal bladder imaging, a full bladder is required — hence the pre-appointment water intake instruction.

40–50Min

Pelvic / Testis & Prostate

For women: pelvic ultrasound covering uterus, ovaries, endometrium, and adnexa. For men: testicular and prostate examination. Lymph node assessment completes the scan.

50–60Min

Findings Discussion & Report

Your consultant explains all findings on the day, answers your questions, and outlines any recommendations. A comprehensive written report with images is delivered within 24 hours.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about the Full Body Ultrasound Scan at London Private Ultrasound.

What is a Full Body Ultrasound Scan?

A Full Body Ultrasound Scan is a comprehensive 60-minute examination covering 6 major body regions in a single appointment:

  • Thyroid and neck — including thyroid gland, salivary glands, and neck lymph nodes
  • Carotid arteries — Doppler assessment of both sides for stroke risk
  • Abdomen — liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, and abdominal aorta
  • Kidneys and urinary tract — both kidneys and bladder
  • Pelvic (women: uterus, ovaries, endometrium) or Testis & Prostate (men)
  • Lymph node assessment of accessible groups

Performed by a registered ultrasound consultant using premium imaging equipment. From £600 all-inclusive. No GP referral required.

How much does a Full Body Ultrasound Scan cost?

Full Body Ultrasound Scan costs £600 all-inclusive. The fee includes:

  • 60-minute consultation with a registered ultrasound consultant
  • Six comprehensive ultrasound examinations
  • Same-day verbal results
  • Comprehensive written report with images delivered within 24 hours
  • Onward referral letter to your GP if findings require further investigation

When booked individually, the same six scans would cost over £1,344. The package represents savings of more than £700.

What ultrasound scans are included?

The Full Body Ultrasound includes six comprehensive examinations:

  1. Thyroid & neck — thyroid gland, salivary glands, neck lymph nodes, and any palpable neck lumps (standalone £219)
  2. Carotid Doppler — both carotid arteries assessed for narrowing and stroke risk (standalone £249)
  3. Abdomen — liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, and abdominal aorta (standalone £219)
  4. Kidneys and urinary tract — both kidneys and bladder (standalone £219)
  5. Pelvic (women) covering uterus, ovaries, endometrium, and adnexa, OR Testis and Prostate (men) (standalone £219)
  6. Lymph node assessment of accessible groups (standalone £219)
Why is the package cheaper than booking scans separately?

When you book six ultrasound scans separately:

  • Each requires its own appointment slot (six visits in total)
  • Each requires separate preparation
  • Each generates a separate report
  • Each carries its own consultation time
  • Total cost: £1,344+

By performing all six examinations back-to-back in a single 60-minute appointment, we deliver substantial efficiency. We pass these savings to you: £600 instead of £1,344+. You also receive:

  • One integrated report covering all findings in clinical context (rather than six separate reports)
  • One visit instead of six
  • Same-day verbal results covering all findings together
Who performs the ultrasound scan?

Your Full Body Ultrasound is performed by one of our registered ultrasound consultants:

  • Mr Pedram Aghaei — Vascular Scientist & Ultrasound Consultant (BMUS, SVT, SOR registered)
  • Mr Reza Farahmandfar — Vascular Scientist & Ultrasound Consultant
  • Dr Reza Salehi — Ultrasound Consultant
  • Mrs Ruchi Gupta — Sonographer
  • Mr Edwardo Murakami — Sonographer

All are qualified ultrasound consultants or sonographers registered with relevant UK professional bodies including BMUS (British Medical Ultrasound Society), SVT (Society for Vascular Technology), and the Society of Radiographers. Medical oversight is provided by our Medical Director, Dr Babak Soleimanpour (GMC: 6060555).

What conditions can be detected?

The Full Body Ultrasound can detect a wide range of conditions:

  • Thyroid: nodules, cysts, goitre, thyroiditis
  • Carotid: plaque, stenosis, stroke risk markers
  • Liver: fatty liver disease, cysts, masses
  • Gallbladder: gallstones, polyps, sludge
  • Kidneys: stones, cysts, masses, hydronephrosis
  • Aorta: abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA)
  • Pancreas: cysts, masses, ductal abnormalities
  • Spleen: enlargement, masses
  • Bladder: wall thickening, stones, masses
  • Pelvic (women): fibroids, ovarian cysts, endometrial thickening, adnexal masses
  • Genital (men): testicular masses, varicoceles, prostate enlargement
  • Lymph nodes: abnormal enlargement requiring further investigation

Any findings are explained on the day and a written report with onward referral guidance is provided.

How should I prepare?

For optimal imaging quality:

  • Fast for 6 hours before your appointment — water is permitted. This is essential for clear gallbladder and pancreas imaging
  • Drink 500ml of water 30 minutes before arrival — fills the bladder for pelvic assessment
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing in two pieces (top and bottom)
  • Bring any prior imaging or medical correspondence
  • Allow 60 minutes for the full appointment, plus 10–15 minutes for arrival and check-in

The scan is non-invasive, painless, and uses no ionising radiation. You can drive yourself to and from the appointment, and return to normal activity immediately afterward.

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You do not require a GP referral. Self-refer directly online at londonsono.com or call 020 7101 3377.

Same-day appointments are often available, including weekends. Both clinics offer the Full Body Ultrasound:

  • Central London: 27 Welbeck Street, W1G 8EN (Harley Street medical district)
  • St Albans: 54–56 Victoria Street, AL1 3HZ
How does this work with the National Health Service?

Many of our patients are concerned that if they come to us, they won’t be able to go back to public health. That simply is not the case. Our goal is to give you a comprehensive screening as quickly as possible and get you on the right pathway — no strings attached.

If your scan identifies a condition requiring NHS specialist management — for example a suspicious lesion, abdominal aortic aneurysm requiring vascular surgery follow-up, or a finding that needs onward investigation — we generate a same-day formal referral letter for your GP at no additional charge.

The referral is significantly stronger because it includes confirmed imaging findings — meaning your specialist appointment is more productive from the first visit.

Should I upgrade to Plus or Premium?

The three tiers cover progressively more comprehensive screening:

  • Full Body Ultrasound (£600) — best for general preventive screening of the major non-invasively assessable organs.
  • Full Body Ultrasound Plus (£800) — adds breast (both), armpit, and chest wall ultrasound. Recommended if you want the most comprehensive ultrasound-only screening.
  • Full Body Ultrasound Premium (£1,200) — adds full Heart Health Check (Echocardiogram, ECG, physical examination, vital signs, and Cardiologist consultation). Recommended if you have any cardiovascular risk factors or want the most thorough screening available.
